Putnam Highlands Audubon Society Mission

As a chapter of the National Audubon Society, our mission is to preserve and maintain the local lands and waters that have been entrusted to our stewardship, and to inform and educate the public on issues involving birds, wildlife, and the environment.

We frequently host bird walks, educational programs, field trips, and guest lectures. Additionally, we maintain two bird sanctuaries: the deRham Watergrass Sanctuary in Philipstown, Putnam County and the Fran Reese Sanctuary in New Hamburg, Dutchess County. Learn more about our work.

Join PHAS in this FREE bird walk partnering with Philisptown Rec Dept, in search of late fall migrants at the Quarry Pond trails adjacent to Glassbury Court. This small park lies in a valley and provides good habitat for a variety of migrating passerines including warblers and sparrows.
